This collection of 125 recipes "based on the ancient science of Moroccan cuisine" is quite scarce. It contains recipes such as "soup to cure jealousy" and "how to be gentle to your brains" alongside "rainy day greens" and "Pescadilla fish head soup." There are unique Majoon recipes, Moroccan refritos, couscous, and Yacoubi's own unique recipes using potent herbs.

According to bookseller Peter Harrington, "Ahmed Yacoubi (1928-1985) was a Moroccan artist and storyteller who became a protégé of Francis Bacon and Paul Bowles. In 1952 he made his US debut at the Betty Parsons Gallery with a show of his densely layered abstractions, while Bowles translated and published a number of Yacoubi's stories from their original Maghrebi. In the 1960's, Yacoubi moved to New York where he befriended many artists and writers, including Walter Bowart, who ran the metaphysical Omen Press which published the present work."
